How to Find a Woodland Mansion
Woodland Mansions naturally generate in Dark Forest biomes, where dark oak trees grow, so it is technically possible to stumble upon one by chance. However, in practice, this is extremely unlikely.
The most reliable way to find a Woodland Mansion is by using a Cartographer villager.

By continuously trading with a Cartographer villager and reaching Level 5 (Master), you are guaranteed to be able to purchase a Woodland Mansion Explorer Map. The map costs 14 emeralds and 1 compass. Each cartographer sells a map pointing to a different Woodland Mansion, making it possible to locate multiple mansions. As a side note, once a cartographer reaches Level 3 (Journeyman), you can also purchase maps leading to other types of structures.
Alternatively, you can use the command “/locate structure minecraft:mansion” to find the location of the nearest Woodland Mansion.

To briefly explain how to read the map: the white dot represents your current location, while the building icon marks the destination.
- If the destination is above the white dot, head north
- If it is below, head south
- If it is to the left, head west
- If it is to the right, head east

Mobs / Totems of Undying
The Woodland Mansion is home to several fixed hostile mobs, including Vindicators, Evokers, and Vexes. These enemies deal extremely high damage, and on Hard difficulty, players can even be killed in a single hit. Because of this, it is strongly recommended to prepare thoroughly before entering the mansion.
Vindicator
Vindicators resemble gray villagers and will chase the player while wielding an axe when the player comes within 12 blocks. Their attack damage varies by difficulty: 7.5 on Easy, 13 on Normal, 19.5 on Hard. If a Vindicator spawns holding an enchanted axe, its damage can be even more dangerous.
One notable trait is its ability to disable the player’s shield, making close combat especially risky. Once defeated, Vindicators do not respawn. They drop emeralds and axes upon death.

Evoker
Evokers are easily recognizable by their golden robes and only appear on the second and third floors of a Woodland Mansion. Defeating an Evoker guarantees a 100% drop rate of a Totem of Undying, which is the main reason many players visit Woodland Mansions in the first place. Once killed, Evokers do not respawn.
Evokers use two types of attacks: spell attacks and summoning attacks.
Spell Attacks
Evokers summon fangs that deal damage, accompanied by light purple particles. If the target is within 3 blocks, the fangs are summoned in a circular pattern around the player. If the target is more than 3 blocks away, the fangs are summoned in a straight line toward the player. These fangs deal magic damage, meaning they bypass armor and shields, making them especially dangerous.
Summoning Attacks
Every 17 seconds, Evokers can summon three Vexes to attack the player. When white particles appear, it indicates a summoning attack. Vexes naturally despawn after 30 seconds to 2 minutes, but up to eight Vexes can exist at once. If overwhelmed, it is often best to retreat temporarily and return later.

Totem of Undying
The Totem of Undying is an item obtained by defeating an Evoker. When held in the player’s hand, it prevents death once. When activated, yellow and light green particles appear, and the following effects are applied: Restores 1 health, Removes all status effects, Grants Absorption II, Grants Regeneration II, Grants Fire Resistance
Farming
Woodland Mansions contain many different types of rooms, but here we will focus only on the lootable rooms that contain chests. Most storage rooms are generally found on the first floor.
Notable farming rooms include: Checkerboard Room, Allium Room, Gray Banner Room, Sapling Room, Logging Room, Mushroom Farm, Small Storage Room, Large Storage Room, Arched Log Room, Curved Staircase Room, Bedroom with Attic, Arena

As an additional note, while it is not a farming location, you can find Allays in the prison room on the first floor and free them there.

Secret Rooms
Secret rooms are hidden rooms with no visible entrances, requiring players to break walls to discover them. Their appearance is random, and there are a total of eight possible secret rooms.
Based on my findings, these rooms most commonly spawn at the corners of each floor. Except for the Secret Chest Room and the Lava Room, every secret room I encountered was located at a corner.
Here is a list of all secret room types:
- X Room – Surrounded by cobblestone and contains one loot chest.
- Spider Room – A trap room featuring a spider mob spawner.
- Obsidian Room – A diamond block hidden inside a room surrounded by obsidian.
- Birch Pillar Room – A blank room with no rewards.
- Secret Chest Room – A room containing a chest and four torches; this room only appears on the first floor.
- Fake End Portal Room – A room shaped like a fake End Portal; the chest inside contains two Ender Pearls.
- Attic Room – A room found only on the roof, which requires breaking the ceiling to access.
- Lava Room – The rarest secret room, featuring a diamond block located in the center of lava.
